HI,
I love this game. I have defended this game. That said, I am not so blind as not to admit there are HUGE problems with it and how the management of this company operates. If I was Activision I would be asking for a major restructuring of top level management and taking a serious look as to where the money, time, and resources are going. Is the project too big for a studio this size? Or is management the issue? A bit of both? Bottom line something has to change soon.
Here's my breakdown of what's right and wrong on a macro level.
1. Art Design/Sound = A+
The game is beautiful for an online multiplayer experience.
2. Gunplay/Gameplay/Balance = A+
No game makes gunplay feel so real to me. I enjoy how D2 has focused more on this and less on spamming supers and grenades. I love shooting things in this world and the exploding thrill of a precision kill still gets me.
3. Narrative/Plot/Writing = C+
The lore set down in D1 was deep and gritty, but the execution in game (for reasons that have been made clear was a mess). The new writing team is much better... at writing teen targeted fiction. The greatest example of this is in the lack of meaningful loss/tragedy. Other than the Speaker and Saint-14 who have we really lost? We didn't even get a chance to know these characters. Who thought it was a good idea to explore the Osiris plot without getting to know Saint-14? We should have met him on our quest to find Osiris. We could have initially seen Saint-14's point of view. Osiris should have had to defeat him. Or maybe they grudgingly agreed to fight Penoptes (sp?) together? Instead we are robbed of what could have been the defining moment in this DLC. A Grey Fox / Solid Snake type moment that could have been a defining moment in breaking away from the pre-Red War age and the future of the city. Instead we get to stumble on Saint-14's body and hear Osiris with his throw away lines about feeling guilty. Opportunity squandered. Banshee-44 talks a lot about "not forgetting those we lost" but who exactly did we lose?
any idea..?
Please help.
Thanks!
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
